Soil compaction can cause problems in agriculture. Water cannot flow properly in dense soil. The risk of compaction is greatest when lots of heavy equipment is driven in the field when the soil is wet.
This soil compaction tester can be used to quickly and easily measure how compacted the soil is. The instrument is supplied with two measuring sensors: one small tip 1/2" in diameter for use in firm soil, and one large tip 3/4" in diameter for soft soil.
Where soils are compacted, fertilisers, pesticides and herbicides can be washed away more easily and are not absorbed or become concentrated in certain areas, resulting in plant damage. This can lead to a reduced crop yield.
Promote plant growth and reduce production costs.
