Attractant trap systems are designed to monitor and can, if used correctly, significantly reduce bark beetle infestations.

Functional traps must be positioned correctly to ensure that they are effective:
• Use triple or single trap
• Only set up traps at the forest edge or in gaps where there has been a bark beetle infestation during the previous year
• Cordon off entire length of the forest edge
• Safe distances to healthy tree populations:
Spruce bark beetle: 10 to max. 15 m
Bark beetle: 5-6 to max. 15 m
• Distance between traps: 20 to max. 30 m
